Project Background

Project Objective

Choosing a sofa is more than just an individual preference - it's a family decision that requires taking into account each family member's style, color, and material preferences. With everyone having their own unique tastes and needs, it's essential to gather input and work together to find the ideal sofa.

Our project focuses on analyzing customers' behavior during the sofa purchasing process to gain insight into their desires and decision-making. By conducting thorough research on both customers and products, we aim to create an effortless and enjoyable shopping experience for customers and their family members, enabling them to discover the perfect sofa for their lovely home.

Company Background

Customers can personalize their design, from receiving the swatches to choosing the configuration. Cozey’s sofas are delivered right to your door with elegant designs and high-quality materials. It fits through any door and can assemble without any tools.

    User Research & Findings

    Current State Analysis

After analyzing Cozey's website, we have examined the entire purchasing process on their site. We have identified certain issues on their homepage, seating page, and product details page that may make it difficult for customers to comprehend their products and choose the ones they desire, resulting in incomplete checkouts.

In this project, we aim to revamp these three pages to provide users with a more customer-friendly purchasing experience.
    Home Page
    • Very engaging media and videos
    Seating Page
    • Different collections are not clearly distinguished on the page
    Product Detail Page
    • No anchor link for reviews
    • Necessary information is not visible (e.g. sofa materials, assemble guide)
    • Other information (e.g. Company background, donation partnership, etc)
    • In-site reviews don’t have high creditability

    Survey Findings

    Comparation Analysis

    Competitor Analysis

We have conducted a competitive review of experiences across 6 furniture brand companies in Canada.

In conclusion, Cozey's website lacks a favorite items option, unlike most of their competitors, which could assist users in filtering out products and making decisions. Hence, it may be beneficial to incorporate this feature into the Cozey website.

Moreover, Cozey is the only brand without a physical showroom, making it impossible for customers to experience their products in person. Thus, it is crucial to provide detailed descriptions and comparisons of their products on their online store, enabling customers to comprehend the distinctions between collections and products.

    SWOT Analysis

    Problem Definition

    Problem Definition

Based on our findings, we discovered that the major user group is young professionals who usually live with family or roommates. With that consideration, there is more than one decision-maker in the household. Currently, Cozey's website is easy for a single user to navigate or look for their interested items. However, it is difficult for multiple users to look at the same items with different devices or locations. We ideate the interactive solution from the question: how might we create a user journey which allows multiple users to look for the same item while providing a more intuitive decision-making process?
    Major target audience
    • Young professionals who usually live with family or roommates
    Single decision-maker
    • Lots of options for sofas but not able to share the page with all the options selected
    Less intuitive journey
    • Customers used to pick their sofa in a different way as in the online store

        Target User

From the persona, it is easy to find that many customers have multiple decision-makers while purchasing a sofa. They may need to share and discuss their preference in order to choose the most suitable one for their home.

        User Case

Charlotte has moved in with her friend recently in a new locality and they both are looking for a new sofa for their living room in their condo. The responsibility of buying the new sofa is on Charlotte as her roommate is out of town for a business conference. While both of them are still browsing which Sofa would be a good fit for them, Charlotte remembers that she had seen an advertisement for Cozey on Instagram. She browses for them on Google and clicks the link in the result. They are also looking for something easy to move or assemble since they don't have to strength to lift up heavy items.
